Exciting changes are now in place for Australia’s leading jackpotting game, Powerball! The first draw with these updates will be drawn on Thursday 6 November 2025 (Draw 1538), with tickets available from 31 October 2025.
These changes are being introduced to make the game even more rewarding. You can read more about the upcoming changes here.
Why is Powerball being updated?
From Draw 1538, the game is being updated to deliver greater value to players. The starting Division 1 prize pool will increase from $4 million to $5 million, and prize amounts across Divisions 2 to 9 will also be boosted.
Will the odds of winning change?
No – your odds of winning and the requirements to win across all divisions remain exactly the same.
Why is the cost of Powerball tickets increasing?
To support the increased prize amounts, the cost to play Powerball on Oz.Lotterywest will increase. The minimum entry requirement will remain at two games in a single draw, with a minimum entry cost of $3.15.
Why can’t I purchase future tickets in Powerball?
Draw 1538 will not be available for purchase until 31 October 2025. As a result, from 5:25pm AWST on Thursday, 28 August 2025, some future draw options (such as multi-week tickets) will be unavailable.
There will also be a brief outage for Powerball sales only between the close of Draw 1537 and the opening of Draw 1538 while we make the required updates. All other games will remain available to play.
Will this affect my existing autoplay?
Your autoplay will continue as normal. However, you’ll notice the small price increase from Draw 1538 onwards.
